CrossTrain coaching helps WELS pastors develop healthy spiritual, emotional, and physical habits, along with transparent relationships, that foster resilience. These efforts all take place under the grace of God and in a network of brotherly relationships. The support for each pastor comes in the form of:
- an annual conference
- monthly coaching
- a monthly webinar based on assigned book reading
- ongoing contact with a peer coach and a network of WELS pastors
What makes CrossTrain coaching different than typical coaching is the holistic approach that is both personally intense and at the same time broadly applicable in multiple areas of life and ministry. Individualized coaching is combined with a deep camaraderie among the pastors participating in CrossTrain. Trust is built. Authenticity develops.
Accountability to each pastor’s goals comes from his own growing faith in Christ and love of the gospel, the coach’s loving guidance, and the group’s brotherly encouragement. This coaching toward personal development is a long-term, biblical strategy and not a quick fix.
Another desired outcome is for the pastors in CrossTrain to impact others in the kingdom as they themselves develop. Like the apostle Paul, who boasted only in the cross, the men in CrossTrain seek to glorify God and better serve the church as they personally grow in Christ.
